Dubois County Busted Booking Records
Who ends up in the Dubois County Security Center? Arrests come from several directions. The sheriff's office runs the jail, but a booking can start with police in Jasper, Huntingburg, or Ferdinand, or with Indiana State Police. Once the jail accepts someone, the sheriff opens the booking file. Keep one thing straight, though. The arresting agency keeps its own incident report, so the same event can sit in two separate records with two different custodians.
What happens at intake is fairly simple. Staff verify identity, record why the person is held, assign identifiers, and take fingerprints plus a photo. The public roster is just a shifting window onto that file. Bond gets posted, a court orders something, or the person is released or transferred, and the roster changes fast. A charge listed at intake can be amended or dropped later, so the roster entry is only a snapshot of one moment.
What Dubois Booking Records May Show
Be specific when you ask. Name the person, the date, and the record you want. The Dubois JailTracker portal can change its layout, so a field one county displays may not appear here. Local reporting from earlier years shows the old inmate page once carried photos and intake details. Still, the card you see today is what counts. Give the sheriff enough facts to pinpoint a single booking. That works far better than a broad request for every photo on file.
| Requested field | What it identifies |
|---|---|
| Full name and aliases | The person, with other facts used to separate similar names |
| Booking date and time | When the jail accepted the person |
| Booking or intake number | The sheriff’s event identifier, when known |
| Agency and case number | The office and incident tied to intake |
| Charges as booked | Charges at intake, not court findings |
| Bond and holds | Release terms or a basis for continued custody |
| Release or transfer date | When county custody ended or moved |
| Booking photograph | The specific intake image, if maintained and releasable |
The police narrative is a separate ask. At the moment of booking, cause numbers and court dates may not exist yet, so request those from the court once a case is filed. Certain material stays off limits by law. Medical details, protected victim information, confidential sources, juvenile content, and sealed or expunged records can all be withheld. A good request is precise and stays inside those lines.
Request Dubois County Busted Photos
The live roster has gaps. A released person may drop off it. A current card might show no photo at all. When that happens, go straight to the Dubois County Sheriff's Office with a particular written request. The office has published no dedicated booking-photo form, no separate records line, no fixed photo fee, and no guaranteed turnaround. Call the main number instead. Ask for an electronic copy if the office can send one.
- Write down the full name, booking date, arresting agency, and intake number if known.
- Ask the sheriff for that person’s booking record and photograph under IC 5-14-3.
- Ask the arresting department separately for its incident report.
- Request the statutory basis and responsible official if any part is denied.
- Use MyCase or the clerk for the later filing and outcome.

Indiana sets firm response clocks. An agency must acknowledge an in-person or telephone request within 24 hours, and a mailed, emailed, or faxed one within seven calendar days. Those deadlines cover the reply only, not the delivery of records. Looking at a file in person is free. Paper copies follow the ten-cent state standard or the agency's actual cost, and no search or review fee may be tacked on.
For pricing, the sheriff's report and photograph fee page is the reference. A mailed accident report runs $5. Report-photo prints cost $3 for the first and $1 for each added print picked up in person, and CDs are $5 picked up or $10 mailed. Keep in mind those figures cover accident reports and related photos. Booking photos have no published fee, so ask for a quote first. The official sheriff fee page draws exactly that line.

Its labels keep a report-photo price from being quoted as a universal mugshot charge.
Indiana Law on Busted Mugshots
Indiana's Access to Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3, defines public records broadly. It covers photographs an agency makes, receives, keeps, or maintains. The Indiana Public Access Counselor has said a booking photo held by police is not automatically secret. Disclosure is still not guaranteed. Under IC 5-14-3-4(b)(1), an agency may withhold investigatory records at its discretion. Any denial should cite specific facts rather than a blanket claim.
The daily-log rule does not require an agency to gather every booking photo into one batch. PAC Opinions 11-FC-238 and 11-FC-239 make that point matter in Dubois County. The better path is simple. Pin down one booking first. Use a date, a name, a roster entry, or an agency record. Then request that exact image. That particularity gives the custodian something workable and keeps the request from ballooning into an archive sweep.
Indiana has no anti-pay-to-remove law. There is no mandatory commercial mugshot-deletion statute either. A 2022 proposal never became law. Fixing an official record starts with the agency that created it. Court-ordered restriction depends on the current terms of IC 35-38-9. A granted expungement can remove or limit public access, though some internal records may survive it.
For a copy on a secondary site, save the exact URL and use the publisher's free route. Busted Newspaper's free form lays out its review grounds. RecentlyBooked's policy states plainly that suppression, removal, and modification carry no fee. Mugshots.com record maintenance splits removal grounds from favorable-disposition updates. No publisher-authored free process exists for Arrests.org. The Mugshots.zone local form has proved unreliable, so stick to its general contact route and keep expectations low. None of these publishers is official, and any of them can change policy without notice.
Once a source is corrected, an official search-engine tool can refresh an outdated cache. It cannot touch the sheriff's file. Juvenile records stay confidential under IC 31-39-1-2 and IC 31-39-3-4. Never seek or display a juvenile booking image.
How Long Dubois Booking Files Last
Display, access, and retention are three different things. A jail roster can drop someone today. The paper file may sit in a drawer for years. Indiana's 2023 Public Safety Agencies Retention Schedule assigns adult inmate custody records to series PSA 17-39. That series covers booking, transfer, release, arrest cards, and related custody material. It can legally be destroyed ten years after a person's incarceration ends. The schedule never singles out the booking photograph. Anyone digging for an old Dubois County mugshot should ask the sheriff where the image lives, inside that series or elsewhere.
So where does that leave a search? A released person may have vanished from JailTracker. The underlying record can still exist in one of three places: with the sheriff, at the county Records Library, or already destroyed under the schedule. An expungement order can also seal things off early. Start with a name and a date. Then ask the direct question: was it retained, transferred, or destroyed? For very old cases, the Indiana State Archives correction collection holds state-prison record books from 1897 to 1966 plus a large historic mugshot collection. Just know it is a state archive, not a Dubois jail archive.

Confirm access before a visit because the Archives had reported a move-related closure.

Where the person sits determines where to look. For someone believed to be at the Security Center, start with the official Dubois JailTracker roster. The sheriff's app catches recent intakes faster. Released? That takes a records request to the sheriff's office. A state sentence means checking IDOC, and any court outcome belongs in MyCase.
- Search JailTracker and compare more than a name when other facts appear.
- Check the official app if the web roster fails or a recent alert matters.
- For a released person, request the intake file and the arresting agency’s report.
- Search MyCase by party name or cause number for the court result.
- Move to IDOC, BOP, or ICE only when custody calls for it.
A missing name proves nothing. The person may have been released, transferred, or booked under a different name. He may simply be held in another county. A source that has not refreshed yet can also leave a gap. By the same token, a matching name is not a match. Confirm the middle name, the date, and the arresting agency. Check lawful birth details and the court cause number before concluding anything.
Dubois Busted Jail Roster Search
JailTracker answers exactly one question: who is in Dubois County jail custody right now. It is not an archive of released people, a court database, or a state-prison search, and it will not list every citation or arrest. Stick to the fields the live interface gives you. Then open a detail card and confirm what matters.
- Roster
- A changing list of people shown in current county custody.
- Booking
- The jail intake process after an arrest.
- Bond
- A court-set release condition.
- Hold
- A basis for custody, sometimes for another authority.
- Disposition
- The court outcome, such as dismissal, plea, or trial result.
The web portal carries no official update promise that anyone has documented. The hourly language belongs to the app feature described in 2022, and even that covered the inmate list rather than photo display. Local reporting from Dubois County Free Press recalled the old 2012 InterAct page. That page could sort by date and show photos and intake facts. JailTracker replaced that system, so those old features cannot be assumed to exist today.
Can a released person remain searchable? A current-custody card disappears after release or transfer. That alone proves nothing about deletion, expungement, or anything else. For anyone off the roster, use a sheriff request and MyCase.
Hourly Dubois Busted Booking Alerts
The closest thing to a same-day feed is the official Dubois County Sheriff's Office iOS app. Apple lists the sheriff as developer and points to current inmates, tips, and safety news. Local coverage of the 2022 addition reported that subscribers could get a notice when someone was booked during the prior hour, drawn from a list refreshed hourly.
Read that carefully. It supports an alert feature, not a guarantee that every intake lands within sixty minutes. It says nothing about whether all entries carry photos or stick around after release. Alerts can be switched off. And the app is never for emergencies; call 911 for an immediate threat.
Dubois County has no verified official feed for 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, weekly, or historic bookings. The roster shows current custody only. Records requests cover past intake, local news picks and chooses, and an old date-sort feature is not a current archive.
Where Dubois Busted Records Appear
Official channels come first for a simple reason: each one has a clear owner accountable for its contents. Secondary county pages can still help you pin down a date after someone leaves the roster. Just remember their weaknesses. They may copy an error or keep an old charge on display. They can skip a booking entirely, or miss the court result that changed everything.
| Channel | Coverage and photo status | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| JailTracker | Current custody; check photo display live | Official sheriff |
| Sheriff app | Current inmates and alerts; no photo promise | Official sheriff |
| Sheriff request | Named intake and photo, subject to review | Official custodian |
| MyCase | Public filings and outcome; no booking photo | Official courts |
| IDOC locator | State sentence; current locator has no photo | Official correction |
| News and archives | Selective or retained pages, at times with images | Unofficial |
RecentlyBooked offers a rolling 30-day window. Busted Newspaper reaches further back in date order. Arrests.org opens dated archives, Mugshots.zone sorts by month, and Mugshots.com looks smaller and more historical. None of these is a sheriff feed. A missing entry on one site proves nothing. Confirm the name, date, agency, custody status, charge, and outcome yourself.
Dubois Booking Status Changes
No single search covers every stage. A fresh intake can hit the app before any court filing exists. A person still held may show up in JailTracker. After a bond-out, the roster entry can vanish while the case file lives on. A transfer to state or federal custody means using a different locator altogether.
| Status | Best source | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Intake unconfirmed | Arresting agency | Roster and later court filing |
| Booked and held | JailTracker or app | Named booking file |
| Released | Sheriff request | Police report and MyCase |
| Indiana sentence | IDOC locator | DOC-number-based photo request |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP, USMS, or ICE | Use that system’s identifier |
The IDOC locator takes a last name, a full name, or a DOC number of up to eight digits. Results can include identity, facility, and sentence details. No photo appears, though. IDOC says an image may be released under policy, which makes its official APRA portal the right place for that specific request.

This state form is not the Dubois County Security Center roster.
Dubois Arrests Beyond County Custody
A Dubois County arrest sometimes moves into federal hands. When that happens, two records exist instead of one. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present. Search it with a federal register number, or a name plus optional age, race, and sex. Results list the register number, release date, and location. No photographs appear there, and some federal pretrial detainees never show up at all.
The Marshals Service often parks a federal pretrial prisoner in a local or contract jail before the BOP assigns a prison, and it runs no public national mugshot roster. Someone missing from the BOP system may still await trial, be free, sit with the Marshals, or simply fall outside the date range. The federal court docket or a district contact is the better first stop. A county intake image stays a separate Dubois County sheriff record.
ICE takes yet another route. Its Online Detainee Locator covers people in ICE custody plus anyone held by Customs and Border Protection longer than 48 hours. A nine-digit A-number with country of birth works, or an exact name, country of birth, and optional birth date. It shows no mugshots and excludes anyone under 18. Immigration detention is not county jail custody.
Match the tool to the stage. Use JailTracker for the Security Center, BOP for designated federal incarceration, the court or Marshals route for federal pretrial questions, and ICE for immigration holds. If a Dubois booking started the chain, ask the sheriff for that intake photo rather than expecting a federal locator to reproduce it.
After a Dubois County Bust
Booking is only the first page of the story. Indiana MyCase links a Dubois County arrest to the court record that comes next. Dubois Circuit Court has run Odyssey since June 24, 2019. You can search by case number, citation, cross-reference number, or party details. Public cases may show the filed charges, hearings, orders, judgment, and sentence.
MyCase has limits worth knowing. Confidential, sealed, and expunged matters stay out. Older documents may be missing too. That means it is not a complete live warrant database. For the official record, go to the maintaining court or the Dubois County Clerk.

Once a case exists, compare the intake charge with everything that came after. Amendments, dismissals, plea or trial results, and the final sentence tell the real story. The disposition is the outcome. The booking line is not.
Why can a roster card vanish while MyCase remains? The two tools track different things. The roster reflects present custody, while MyCase follows the public case. Release changes the first source even as the case rolls on.
Dubois County Busted Mugshots by City
The county's three largest incorporated places each run a police department. None offers a verified person-level arrest log or photo feed, though. City police and county jail records also have different owners. A city arrest that leads to county intake shows up through the Security Center. The police department keeps its own report separately.
- Jasper Busted Mugshots: Jasper Police reports can lead to a sheriff booking and JailTracker entry.
- Huntingburg Busted Mugshots: no verified person-level city feed exists, so county custody and records requests lead.
- Ferdinand Busted Mugshots: council records show aggregate police activity, not a named-arrestee blotter.
Third-party sites often pin a city or agency label on a booking entry. No stable city-only landing page checks out. So treat those labels with care. A label may point to the arresting agency, not the current location or outcome. Confirm with the sheriff, the named police agency, and MyCase.
